My first international family holiday, back in 1986, was spent on Plantation Island in Fiji. I have very vivid memories of the boat pulling away from the beach to return us to the mainland, and me sobbing hysterically as I waved farewell to Elizabeth from the kids club, aka my best friend forever.

The resort has, obviously, changed a lot in the intervening 38 years, but its spirit, that I’ve held such vivid memories of throughout my life, has not.
